Atlas Copco introduces DHS 3000 VSD+ vacuum pump

By Puja Mitra | March 31, 2026

Atlas Copco developed the dry screw vacuum pump DHS 3000 VSD+ for high-flow industrial applications. The pump is intended for paper processing, conveying, pick-and-place applications in the food industry, and central vacuum systems. It uses an IE4 motor and an asymmetrical rotor design. Atlas Copco said users can see energy savings of up to 50% compared with competing products. The company also describes the pump as compact and low maintenance.

Lower energy consumption and component wear

The DHS 3000 VSD+ includes an integrated control system with frequency converter that adjusts pump speed based on process requirements so the system delivers the required vacuum level in each section. Atlas Copco said this can reduce energy consumption and wear on moving components, which may help extend maintenance intervals and pump service life.

No oil emissions or other contamination

A gearbox transfers power from the motor to the screw. “We have achieved a long service life for the gear wheels by using a cooled oil flow,” said Carol Pignatelli, product manager at Atlas Copco. Because the DHS 3000 VSD+ does not use oil elsewhere in the pumping process, Atlas Copco said there is no risk of oil carryover. “We have also equipped the DHS VSD+ with an air intake filter to protect operational process from dust and particles,” Pignatelli said. The company said the oil-free design and simplified construction can help reduce maintenance costs.

Quiet, vibration-free operation

The DHS 3000 VSD+ is housed under a noise-reducing enclosure and includes the Elektronikon control system for monitoring operating time, downtime, errors, and alarms. “Atlas Copco supplies the DHS VSD+ as a complete plug-and-play unit that can be seamlessly and quickly integrated into any system,” Pignatelli said.

Features listed by Atlas Copco

  • efficient operation
  • variable speed operation
  • compact footprint
  • paper filters for dust and particle protection
  • plug-and-play configuration
  • preventive maintenance plan availability
  • construction intended to reduce maintenance and downtime

A note from the editor In our October issue of Fluid Power World, my commentary takes a look at the growing role of automation and sensors in mobile machinery, where OEMs are increasingly focused on automating specific functions and improving machine performance rather than chasing fully autonomous equipment. Josh Cosford gets cheeky comparing the auto…
