DGD Fluid Power announces the release of the newest addition to its Cartridge Flow Transmitter (CFT) product line: the CFT-Max. Designed to meet the increasing demand to monitor hydraulic flows on mobile equipment, the CFT-MAX is J1939 compliant with an IP69 rating. Flows up to 150 gpm and a 6,000 psi pressure rating allow the CFT-Max to be used on the vast majority of systems in use today.
According to Dale Dietel, President & CEO, “This newest development gives system designers and mobile equipment manufacturers the ability to add flow measurement to the integrated valve manifolds that before now was not available. The advantages of cartridge valving is widely recognized for much of the evolution and advances made in equipment due to reduction in plumbing and space requirements.
“We recognized some years ago that machine intelligence and data collection was going to play a major role in making equipment more efficient, reduce downtime and warranty costs and provide real time performance status to the machine operators,” Dietel concluded. “The challenge we overcame was creating a device that was in the versatile format of a cartridge valve.”
The newest model in the CFT line is named for Dietel’s second cousin. Rather than name it simply by its numbered name (CFT-J1939 just didn’t have the right ring, he said), he honored a young man in his family. “Last summer, while spending time in Northern Michigan with family, I witnessed how we as a family encouraged our second cousin, a teenage boy who is low functioning due to Downs Syndrome, to change one of his go to phrases from ‘No we can’t!’ to ‘Yes we can!’ It was not long after that I knew what I would call the new J1939 CFT flow meter,” Dietel said. “You see, the young boy is named Max. So I went from CFTJ1939-“CAN”-bus to simply CFT-Max.”
Two US Patents have been issued for this revolutionary technology and others are pending.
Also available from DGD Fluid Power is the CFT10 series, a voltage output flow meter (.5- 5 and 1-10vdc) and the CFT20B series which is a 4-20 mA device. These are available with optional M12, Deutsch and M20 conduit electrical connections.
