Domin is proud to announce its recognition as the winner of the Economic Innovator of the Year Award, as well as the regional award as Innovator in the South West and South Wales. The awards are recognized by The Spectator, in partnership with Rathbones, and highlight Domin’s role as a pioneer within hydraulic manufacturing, using cutting-edge technology to revolutionise a traditionally slow-moving industry.
The Economic Innovator of the Year Awards celebrate the exceptional achievements of British entrepreneurs whose innovative solutions drive economic growth, support communities, and challenge conventional practices. With categories spanning six UK regions plus three overall awards, they identify standout breakthrough and scale-up ventures. Domin’s awards reflects its commitment to industry-leading advancements and sustainable growth.
The judges were particularly impressed by Domin’s ground-breaking approach to hydraulic systems, with Adrian de Ferranti, one of the judging panel, describing the company as a “fascinating business” and “a proper manufacturing company.” Domin’s commitment to applying modern technology to hydraulics sets it apart in an industry traditionally known for its slow pace of change. “By using modern technology, Domin have metaphorically taken the internal combustion engine and turned it into a jet engine, by using techniques such as metal 3D printing and up-to-date control electronics to create better valve and more efficient pumps.”
“Domin have really come up with something very impressive here,” said another judge, Gabriel Fysh. “In hydraulics it’s about weight, cost, and power and these guys are reducing the cost and weight and increasing the power. It’s a really, really good example of a small British company that is entered a niche and is proving it out. This is a great company.”
Marcus Pont, CEO at Domin, added, “We’re incredibly honored by these awards from The Spectator. It is a testament to our team’s relentless commitment to transforming hydraulic technology through innovation and efficiency. I am incredibly proud of the team that have got us here this far and the dedication they continue to show to driving Domin forward.
“By leveraging advanced manufacturing techniques like 3D metal printing, we’re setting new benchmarks for efficiency and performance in an industry that has long been overlooked,” Pont said. “We’re excited to continue pushing boundaries, supporting the British economy, and driving positive change in the global hydraulics market.”
With hydraulic systems estimated to be a $250 billion industry globally, Domin is poised to continue its upward trajectory, transforming hydraulic technology in the UK and beyond.
