ELGi expands EG SP series air compressors for industrial use

By Puja Mitra | September 18, 2025

ELGi Compressors USA has expanded its EG SP Series of oil-injected rotary screw air compressors, now offering models from 100 hp to 200 hp. The compressors provide up to 15% energy savings compared with the ELGi EG Series and other competitors, and are suitable for a range of industrial applications, including automotive, packaging, mining, agriculture, textile, and manufacturing.

“Compressed air is one of the most critical utilities in industrial operations and also one of the most overlooked when it comes to energy efficiency. By optimizing compressed air systems, companies can unlock substantial energy savings,” said Aneek Roy, RPMO director at ELGi. “By delivering both lower and higher horsepower compressors in this range, Companies can find the right-sized solution for their specific needs, helping them improve operational efficiency and reduce overall energy costs.”

Maximizing energy efficiency

The ELGi EG SP improves energy efficiency with its two-stage airends using the η‑V profile. This design distributes operational load across both stages, extending component lifespan and lowering energy use by 15% compared with previous models.

EG SP air compressors use NEMA Premium Efficiency motors with a large core and robust windings. Designed for demanding applications, these motors have a TEFC (totally enclosed fan-cooled) design, direct coupling with the airend to reduce transmission losses, and a high ambient temperature rating for hot environments.

The series is available with optional built-in Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) that automatically adjust motor speed to match real-time air demand. By aligning compressor output with actual requirements, the EG SP Series can provide additional energy savings of up to 25% when they are not under full load.

Advanced control features

The EG SP Series comes equipped with ELGi’s advanced Neuron 4 controller, which is designed for industrial applications. It features a 7-inch touchscreen interface for controlling up to eight air compressors.

Intelligent features include:

  • Air pressure scheduling
  • Ethernet, RS485, CAN, TCP/IP and MODBUS
  • Multilingual interface with support for up to 32 languages
  • Real-time mimic display for system visualization
  • Reverse rotation prevention

The ELGi EG SP Series compressors come with a warranty that includes coverage for airends for the lifetime of the product and a five-year package warranty.
