Every December, as one calendar closes and we’re set to open another, we look back at our websites to see what worked best to ensure we’re providing our readers with the content they’re looking for. And every year, some similar trends take shape.
Across the Fluid Power World brands, we offer five websites focusing on specific technologies or applications of use — mobile hydraulics, pneumatics, hose assemblies, sealing and contamination control — and of course, we bring them all together at the FluidPowerWorld.com site.
Consistently, our fundamentals content is our most read — from our very important series on symbology basics, to our hundreds of FAQ-style engineering articles. Our readers turn to our content to educate themselves on system design, component basics, sizing and specification, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair, and so much more.
For FluidPowerWorld.com, our most searched and read articles in 2024 have been our educational pieces on hydraulic symbology, as reading and understanding hydraulic circuits is critical to safe, reliable machines. Fluid Power World’s Troubleshooting Challenge articles were also a hit, as industry experts Bob Sheaf and JR (Jon) Rhodes share the system faults and schematics they uncover in consulting work and ask our readers to help solve the problem.
On our tips sites — mobilehydraulictips.com, pneumatictips.com, hoseassemblytips.com, and sealingandcontaminationtips.com — our fundamentals FAQ content really shines, as readers look for everything from sizing and selection of key technologies to compressed air efficiencies to the many types of fittings, and the importance of materials and design in filtration and sealing systems.
In addition to the Engineering Basics tabs on many of these websites, we have packaged some of these more popular topics into Design Guides and e-books to help readers find some of this critical content all in one place. Visit our Design Guide Library for in-depth mini e-books full of articles on pneumatic cylinders, sensing technologies, hydraulics cylinders, cylinder repair, metric fittings, and filtration.
And new this this year, we published our own editorial e-book encompassing all of our hydraulic symbology content in one page. I encourage readers to download this incredible new Fluid Power Symbology Building Blocks e-book, which provides fluid power professionals with an opportunity to learn everything from the basic lines and circles to common symbols for pumps, motors, and cylinders, all the way to more advanced valve and logic elements.
Although we cover machine design, trends, and industry developments throughout the year, we are delighted that our readers continue to find the educational fundamentals we write throughout the year to be most helpful.
Thank you for your readership! We hope you enjoyed and learned from our content the past year, and we look forward to sending you informative stories and keeping you up to date in 2025.
