High-performance hydraulic valve coil launched at Hannover Messe

ATAM presented a new, high-performance coil at Hannover Messe 2025. Designed for typical hydraulic applications, such as on-off and proportional valves (among others), it features one of the industry’s most widely used standard layouts, with the following dimensions — outer diameter: 37 mm, inner diameter: 19 mm, height: 50 mm.

This product is fully interchangeable — both in size and performance — with current market offerings. ATAM’s newly developed coil also underscores the company’s strong commitment to customization. It can be configured, even in medium-to-low volumes, with any winding type requested by the client (with voltage ranging from 6 V to 250 V, and power ratings exceeding 30 W).

A key distinguishing feature of this coil is its external metallic shell, developed using a deep-drawing process on a transfer die. This technique minimizes changes to the steel’s crystalline structure, thereby preserving the  metal’s electromagnetic properties. This high-precision construction results in a monolithic part, that is, free of the air-gap that would otherwise disrupt the magnetic circuit, significantly reducing magnetic leakage. As a  result, the use of copper — an increasingly costly raw material — for windings can be optimized, while still delivering the high magnetic flux required by demanding applications. The result is a product that guarantees maximum electromagnetic efficiency and an excellent price-performance ratio.

The deep-drawing process via transfer die ensures extremely fast production cycles, with consistent quality and  high dimensional accuracy. Combined with ATAM’s flexible coil winding capabilities, this allows the company to  offer a uniquely versatile manufacturing solution to its clients. The company is also capable of producing small  batches with a high degree of customization, an offering that is virtually unique in today’s market landscape.

The protection rating of ATAM’s new coil can vary from IP67 to IP69K, depending on the electrical connector  selected by the client (AMP JT or DEUTSCH). It is available in 180°C and 200°C insulation classes (H and N), with metal components treated using advanced electroplating techniques that ensure exceptionally high resistance to salt spray corrosion.

With ATAM’s new coil, clients benefit from a standard-sized product that is interchangeable across a wide range of applications, while delivering excellent performance even in the most demanding conditions. The coil is customizable in terms of windings and power output, and can be manufactured in medium to small production runs.

The coil has been developed to meet the varied and evolving needs of a virtually limitless clientèle, with applications ranging from industrial machinery to heavy-duty vehicles.

ATAM continues to stand out not only for its customization capabilities and flexible production lines, but also for its state-of-the-art in-house testing laboratory, allowing ATAM engineers to simulate real-world product use under all conditions, enabling the delivery of optimized solutions in terms of reliability, quality and cost-effectiveness.

Where are we in the tariffs tug-of-war? It feels like we’ve been talking about tariffs for months now, with the constant, will they or won’t they take effect? Josh Cosford penned an opinion piece a few weeks ago on this very topic, sharing his thoughts from north of our border as we waited for impending…
