A note from the editor

Our June 2026 issue of Fluid Power World explores how smarter design tools, advanced diagnostics, and automation-ready hydraulic systems are reshaping fluid power engineering. Leading the issue is a practical guide to building the right hydraulic diagnostic kit, helping technicians and engineers select the tools needed to quickly identify pressure, flow, and efficiency losses across hydraulic systems. We also examine the growing role of steer-by-wire technology in mobile machinery, where electronic controls, software, and hydraulics are converging to enable safer operation, greater automation, and the foundation for autonomous equipment.

In this month’s Design Notes, we spotlight Paro Software’s new HydroCam platform, which dramatically reduces hydraulic manifold CNC programming time by automating the translation of manifold designs into ready-to-run machining programs. Additional features cover hydraulic hose fundamentals, including the latest innovations in hose assemblies, along with expert insights into hydraulic motor reliability, vacuum safety in automation, compressed air efficiency, and the increasing role of software in fluid power system design. Together, these articles highlight the technologies helping engineers improve machine performance, simplify design processes, and address the industry’s ongoing workforce challenges.
