NAHAD’s Executive Committee has decided not to host its Annual Meeting & Convention next month in the Bahamas, said Molly Alton Mullins, NAHAD Executive Vice President. And after surveying members, to review possible future dates, the event is canceled for 2020.
“This is not a decision we made lightly, and I promise you that NAHAD’s leadership has spent countless hours wrestling with making the right decision for the benefit of our members and the association. I know some of you have wanted us to proceed; I know many of you have wondered why we didn’t cancel sooner,” Mullins said last Friday. “Please know a lot of factors went into this decision, including financial implications as a result of cancellation. There are significant financial liabilities associated with cancelling a Convention and we have been weighing all our options to determine the best possible course of action. We are fortunate that NAHAD is in sound financial position but cancelling the Annual Meeting & Convention does come with significant costs.”
Those who registered will be refunded in full within the next 30 days. Additionally, the Atlantis will cancel all room reservations for those who registered directly.
“We still plan to hold NAHAD’s Annual Meeting of Members virtually in April,” Alton Mullins said. “Please look for additional communications from me in the coming weeks. A lot of exceptional initiatives have occurred during the past year and NAHAD’s leadership looks forward to sharing these efforts with our membership.”
She noted too, that NAHAD still plans to host an upcoming Convention at the Atlantis, and more details on future conventions will be shared as soon as possible.
