otp logoOhio Transmission Corp., an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, announces the acquisition of PK Controls Inc.

PK Controls, located in Plain City, Ohio, is a leading engineering and services company that specializes in factory automation and controls. PK Controls’ extensive full-service, technical experience in customizing automation solutions for customers from start to finish made the company a good match for Ohio Transmission Corp.

“PK Controls’ team of 74 associates—including 10 engineers, 47 field technicians, as well as shop and installation technicians—significantly enhances Ohio Transmission Corporation’s capabilities across our entire product portfolio,” said Phil Derrow, president and CEO of Ohio Transmission Corp. “Our customers continue to favor supplier-partners with the resources to help them improve their processes and solve problems rather than merely supplying parts, and PK Controls can handle everything from simple control panel design-build to complex automation and field service solutions.”

Matt Patel, the owner of PK Controls, will continue to stay with the company and lead the team. PK Controls will continue to operate under the same name but as a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, which provides technical sales and service for industrial automation, motion control, fluid power, pumps, spray finishing, sealant and adhesive application, and power transmission systems and products.

PK Controls provides all elements of the automation industry with a large array of highly-skilled, technical services to a wide variety of industrial clients. Some of these services include the engineering, design and installation of process systems; control panel fabrication; plant equipment; and systems installation and industrial maintenance.

With this acquisition, Ohio Transmission Corporation now has 30 locations throughout the South and the Midwest and Northeast regions, along with 14 service shops. The addition of PK Controls’ 74 associates brings Ohio Transmission Corp.’s existing workforce to almost 900 employees.

“The addition of PK Controls to the OTP family is a great fit, as we continue to expand our electrical and automation capabilities,” said Rob Webb, president of OTP Industrial Products. “PK engineers, installation and service technicians and all of their leadership and support associates are highly trained and experienced with a history and continuing commitment to delivering expert solutions to customers on time and on budget. Their emphasis on customer service and high quality are a perfect fit to help OTP deliver what matters most to our customers.”

As a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, PK Controls will have access to OTC’s vast product and service offerings and support resources. The acquisition provides significant growth opportunities for the associates of all of the companies and will provide customers with a more comprehensive set of technical solutions.

“This acquisition allows PK Controls and its employees to continue to be part of a family-oriented company while also providing expanded opportunities for additional training and development for our employees and growth for PK Controls outside of our present geographical location,” said Patel, owner and co-founder of PK Controls. “Because our entire team is staying on, our customers will continue to see the same management and same quality they have come to expect from PK Controls.”
