At the start of the Hannover Messe trade fair, seal expert C. Otto Gehrckens made its O-ring calculator available on the company’s website. The tool is especially aimed at engineers who want to quickly and easily check their designs, or determine the correct parameters for selecting O-rings. The O-ring pros at COG made their primary focus a clear interface, high degree of user-friendliness and the integration of features relevant to practice.
The three most commonly used seal types — piston seals, rod seals and flange seals — are therefore integrated into the calculation program, and for special applications, the engineer can even customize some of the parameters.
As well as the type of application and material, COG engineers also paid attention to the most important requirements for specific applications, such as temperature and pressure. The calculations are made on the basis of DIN ISO 3601-2.
This complex calculator is available in a choice of English or German, for customers in Germany and abroad. Users can also choose between metric and imperial measurements, i.e., millimeters or inches and degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit. COG has therefore expanded its range of services to include this helpful tool for the practical seal technology applications that
demand absolute precision in the components used.
