Wieland Electric, in collaboration with Ross Controls, has introduced new TÜV-certified training courses titled “CFSE – Certified Functional Safety Expert for Electrical and Fluid Power Systems.”
This five-day course is intended for engineers, designers, developers, maintenance engineers and safety officers who want to expand their understanding of functional safety. It covers the application of functional safety practices throughout the CE process in line with international standards.

The curriculum of this internationally accredited course is based on the CE process and covers key aspects of machine safety, including foundational standards, risk assessment under EN ISO 12100 and performance level calculations.
The course covers the application of safety-critical sensor technology in accordance with standards, as well as validation and verification processes based on EN ISO 13849-2. In partnership with Ross Controls, Wieland Electric ensures the course includes both electrical and pneumatic or hydraulic safety topics. The modular structure allows the training content and duration to be adjusted based on participants’ experience and requirements.

The certification offers cross-industry recognition as a functional safety expert and helps participants demonstrate their expertise efficiently. It provides practical guidance from industry professionals to support effective implementation of the CE process in line with current standards. Offered internationally, the course ensures consistent training across locations. Certificates are valid for four years and can be renewed for another four years through a one-day refresher seminar.

Nov. 10–14 in Ohio; and Dec. 8–12, 2025, in California.
