Milwaukee Cylinder announced its new Electronic Service Tag, which comes standard on its H, MH, LH, and A series cylinders and allows smartphones to be used to download cylinder nameplate information and to request a seal kit or duplicate cylinder quote right from the phone.
The tag contains both an NFC chip and a printed QR code which offers two separate means of downloading the cylinder’s information. The QR code uses a smartphone’s camera, while NFC uses the phone’s electronic NFC reader. With the NFC chip, even if the tag is visually not readable, a smartphone can easily still read the NFC chip to access the cylinder information.
“Having the correct cylinder information is absolutely critical and is required for ordering the correct cylinder seal kits,” said Douglas Lacina, president of Milwaukee Cylinder. “In industrial applications, most people rely on the cylinder’s nameplate to identify the cylinder. Unfortunately, the nameplate may not be accessible due to the cylinder’s placement, or the nameplate may have been painted over or damaged. Either of these issues makes ordering the correct cylinder parts difficult, time consuming, and aggravating. Our Electronic Service Tag makes life a lot simpler.”
Each Milwaukee Cylinder Electronic Service Tag comes in a bag attached to the cylinder, allowing the end user to place the tag in the most accessible location. When it comes time to identify the cylinder, the end user simply uses their phone to download the cylinder information and, if desired, request a seal kit quote (or duplicate cylinder quote).
